Huh. I guess fat girls are making YOU cry now, arent the Crumb…
I had heard that you were rude to customers before, but this is insane.
Just from looking at your website and reading some of your previous posts I knew you seemed kind of full of yourself. It looks like your own egos will be your downfall. I love when you can actually see karma come back and bite someone in the ass.
I am not a fat cunt, but I am a cunt with standards. I will not be buying anything from you and I will be sharing this story with as many people as possible.
No, you are not sorry. You are grown-ups and not being able to deal with the stress of a hard day is a poor excuse. I’m glad this has been a bad day for both of you. Your days will continue to suck. Fuck you and your cupcakes.
Wow, I never thought anything to do with cupcakes could annoy me, but today I was proved wrong by this bakery’s antics. Crumb owners: think about this for a sec. We FAT PEOPLE are (according to stereotype) your main customer base, loving junk food and sugary things. Do not enrage us, for our wrath will fall like the mightiest of hammers!
Also, don’t hide behind that “everyone is so PC these days!/I’m sorry you were offended” non-response. You weren’t politically incorrect or edgy . You were rude and mean–to potential customers! That is just senseless. I honestly wonder if you will be in business 6 months from now.
@Branwyn $8 per cupcake-in Raleigh? Good lord, here in the SF Bay Area, the most you’ll pay is about $4 for something incredibly fabulous. LOL @ “edgy” overpriced cupcakes and business owners that think it’s cool to call a polite customer a “cunt.”
It is never, ever permissible, much less cute, to call someone a “c*nt.” I don’t care if you are having a bad day. It’s incredibly unprofessional and for that reason, I will not patronize your shop and will urge others not to as well.
Just wanted to let you know that news of your spoiled food and spoiled personalities have made it all the way to the big city. Good luck with your crumbs.
See, I do not live in NC. However, my best friend moved to Durham with her husband. She did not hear of this story, but on a website I saw it. I told her about it via IM, linked her, and she was horrified.
She was works ER reception at a hospital, so no doubt it will be a topic tomorrow. So, did you lose a customer in me? No, not at all, however it may be conversation among the nurses at the ‘water cooler.’
Do you see how marketing and word-of-mouth workds? It’s like I tell my first grade class – think before you act. It’s a great lesson, you need to learn it.
For RDU people- Sugarland in Chapel Hill is a FANTASTIC bakery, the cupcakes are reasonably priced, and the owners are sweet and friendly. As a result, they are successful enough to have been able to open an adorable store right on franklin street. I’ve only had the cupcakes and ice cream but they have wedding and birthday cakes in the windows and they are beautiful.
Just wanted to let you know that your business-destroying folly has made it all the way to Los Angeles, California.
I, too, am a “fat cunt” but I really don’t eat cup cakes or cups of cake or whatever the hell you call them that often. I’m also flabbergasted by the $8 a cup-cake thing…. There’s a fantastic little bakery near my college that specializes in cupcakes in many seemingly odd but all wonderful flavors and you can get one fresh there for 2 dollars and it is warm and heaped with frosting that’s not too sweet. Perfect.
I suppose the insane price of your sweets doesn’t matter anymore as I’m positive your business will not survive this. To be honest, it doesn’t deserve to survive this. Maybe you can get a job insulting people and furthering idiotic, bigoted stereotypes and sexism or something. You seem to be naturals!
It’s not acceptable to publically call someone, particularly a potential customer, a filthly name. The fact that you are having a bad day is a bogus excuse. I currently am residing in Kuwait and don’t have a problem with your prices but do find your attitude unacceptable. I’m debating posting about this debacle on one of my favorite websites, the Rants and Raves forum of Obesity Help. Yeah, I’m a former fatty but I would have a problem with this regardless. What are you planning to do to make more sincere amends?
I’m loving that now, when people google your business, they’ll find evidence of a whole lot of bad behaviour as well as your website. I’d say good luck launching your business, but I think you’ll need more than luck after this. Lesson one: don’t insult your customers.
A SINCERE apology and a SINCERE attempt to make amends to the woman you publicly degraded would go a long way to defusing some of the anger that a lot of people are feeling toward you right now, Carrie and David. There is never an excuse for calling someone such a foul name, and you didn’t even apologize for your actions here. You just said “Oh, I’m sorry you feel that way!” which is the classic BS, cop-out non-apology and just tends to make people even angrier.
As a former Durhamite, I’d like to recommend Daisy Cakes for your Triangle area cupcake needs. http://www.eatdaisycakes.com
Daisy Cakes’ tagline? “A handful of happiness!” Now there’s some good business sense.

If calling your customers cunts on a public website is your way of dealing with the stress of owning a business, perhaps you shouldn’t be in business.
Oh wait – I think the zaftig, chubby hand of invisible market forces will be pushing you that way very shortly…

Love,

Some of your $8 cupcakes look like messy chunks of feces.
8 bucks for a cupcake????
That’s insane. There is no way you will stay in business (I live in Chicago, where the top-notch cupcake shops sell theirs for 3-4 bucks each).
Strangely, I don’t feel any pity. Maybe I was stressed today?

Will you be bringing any of your gluten-free delicious cakes?
No gluten free treats today, maybe at our next event.
Wait, I thought the cakes were for the pre- pre- party? You know, the staff meeting?!?
Just kidding. Can’t wait. Super-excited to try them both.
